Separations and Process Chemistry Researcher

Job Summary ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company has an opening for a Member of the Technical Staff in its Corporate Strategic Research Laboratory located in Clinton, New Jersey. The successful candidate will join the Separations and Process Chemistry section, a multidisciplinary group of scientists and engineers conducting fundamental research to investigate innovative system engineering approaches for energy industry applications with emphases on process intensification, separation processes, and model guided process development. Job Role Responsibilities Experimental and/or theoretical investigation of molecular transport in separations.  Focus on scientific discovery and early conceptual development of novel materials for gas and liquid separation applications. Integration of materials and transport phenomena into new processes for hydrocarbon separation and/or conversion. Conceptualize, design, construct, and operate experimental facilities to study separation and transport phenomena, and test novel process concepts. Collect, analyze, and interpret data from experimental programs and develop analytical or numerical models as appropriate. Perform molecular simulations/modeling of porous materials and transport phenomena using computational chemistry or classical simulation methods. Work effectively in multidisciplinary teams to develop new scientific understanding and support technology transfer through the development pipeline. Identify and develop external collaboration opportunities to drive scientific understanding, grow model guided research capabilities, and enable system development.    Job Requirements Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or related discipline Broad knowledge of separation fundamentals, adsorption, and diffusion phenomena in porous materials Competency in molecular simulations and theoretical modeling as applied to separations applications. Working knowledge of porous materials, adsorbents, and membranes. Demonstrate robust scientific leadership Strong communication and collaboration skills Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Post-doctoral or industrialexperience in separations and their applications is preferred, and a background in materials science and/or transport phenomena, and/or molecular modeling is highly desirable, especially a strong background in more than one area.
