Materials Scale - up Researcher

Job Role Summary ExxonMobil's Process Technology Department has an immediate opening for an individual with active material synthesis and development experience. The selected individual will lead and/or support emerging active materials synthesis and scale-up  activities, provide support to our material manufacturing interests, as well as manage interfaces within ExxonMobil's Process Technology, Corporate Research, and Chemicals Research Departments. The individual will also routinely interface with various ExxonMobil business units, third-party tollers, vendors, analytical and catalyst testing laboratories. Primary Job Functions Discover and develop active materials for catalytic and/or separations applications that align with ExxonMobil corporate and business needs.   Jobresponsibilitiesinclude:  Support or lead R&D teams to develop new catalyst and adsorbents Identify opportunities to improve existing active materials, defining associated risk and providing proposed solutions Provide roadmap and fundamental insights on key commercial manufacturing and scale-up steps  Effectively communicate with business and technology stakeholders via technical presentations, teleconferences, and face-to-face meetings Monitor the scientific advances of new and novel catalysts and active materials and provide technical advice   Job Requirements Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, or related discipline A demonstrated track record of innovative technology development and commercialization Willingness to travel domestically and internationally Strong oral and written communication skills Able to apply of design-of-experiment methodologies to active material development and high-throughput activity screening Demonstrated ability to provide technical program leadership and lead cross-functional R&D teams Exceptional communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Ten or more years of post-degreeindustrialexperience in catalyst research, active material scale-up, development, and formulation  Expert knowledge of microporous and mesoporous materials  synthesis, crystallization, properties and applications, including zeolites, aluminosilicates, aluminophosphates (AlPO/SAPO) and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) Expert knowledge of metals, supports, binders and catalyst additives Expert knowledge of catalyst formulation, including extrusion and post-processing steps (calcination, ion exchange, steaming, selectivation) Expert knowledge of advanced catalyst characterization techniques Expert knowledge in ceramics, ceramic monolith extrusion, drying, active materials incorporation (e.g., wash/dip coating), post-treatment steps  Strong understanding of catalyst modeling and design-of-experiments is a plus     ExxonMobil's Process Technology Department is a dynamic and exciting place to work.  The research facility is located in Clinton, NJ, a picturesque part of western New Jersey.
